Insurance is a big expense, if you are a new driver, otherwise, you wouldn't be paying so much. I talked to my insurance agent the other day. I am a new driver (in case you can't already tell). anyway, to insure the Taurus, $500+ for 6 months. Now I know what you are thinking, holy crap! I know. My mother has a(n) '00 Pontiac Grand am, she pays about $250 every 6 months, of course she has been driving longer than me (she's almost 40 now). she pays half of what I have to pay. Insurance companies are just out to make money, and they know that they can charge younger, newer drivers a lot more. They know that they can get away with it, because many older drivers agree with that, something like 'take all of their money, so they don't want to drive'. in a way, I can understand what they are saying, a lot of newer drivers drive like retards. In another way, I don't believe that this whole thing is very fair, why should I have to pay for other people's mistakes? That's up to you to decide.
I have a good website for getting a car insurance Quote. visit http://www.progressive.com/. they won't charge you anything, but they do require you to give them your e-mail address, so that they can send you a copy of your quote ( I think they expect you to buy insurance from them, I didn't though) I usually just delete those messages. my inbox was full of messages from progressive, but I did quote a whole load of cars, though.
